*What is Aitches? My initials - “HH” (Hannah Hoggatt), ergo, the nickname Aitches. No weird witchery, just a phonetic spelling of two letter Hs. You can also just call me Hannah, Han, Hannie, or my least favorite - Banana.

GET TO KNOW ME

I’ve described my work, but there is more to all of us than what we accomplish. What we love is just an important indicator of who we really are as people.

Personality.

I care a lot, sometimes too much. Being outside is better than being inside. My belongings are intentional and my environment should be comforting. I am not interested in influencers or labels or “Keeping up with the Jones’”. You can find me having picnics, trying to stick to morning rituals, going on really long walks & trying to do too much.

My super power is reading people; my husband used to call it “making snap judgements” until he realized I was never really wrong… he now has the proper respect for said power. I’d love to make you a cocktail. See below for my top 5 favorite things.

Work Style.

“Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it.”
Communication should be direct and to the point, not to say I don’t have soft skills, but there is a balance. My biggest pet peeve in the work environment is an ego, it is often the thing standing between the problem and the solution.

The feeling of an impending deadline and rallying together to get great work out the door is a high like no other. Encouragement is the key to seeing coworkers and employees flourish and grow. I want to know when I am wrong, so I can fix it and move forward.

Photographing

People, places and things. My first photo assignment was 5th grade with a purple plastic film camera. Lauren Lindner paid me 5$ to take stealth photographs of the boy she had a crush on at recess. So began my unrealized dream of being a private eye.

02

Traveling

I want to go everywhere. Seeing things I have never seen before makes me feel alive. Adventures, secret bars, rocky coast lines, lush green fields… I want it all. Where should we go next?

03

Making

I need to use my hands to make things. To create something out of nothing is a magical feeling. I was not born as lucky as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, so I have to find my own ways to make that magic. It doesn’t matter what it is - welding, woodworking, sewing, weaving, knitting, designing - I can see something in my imagination and go crazy working out how to bring it to life.

04

Learning

My therapist says this is due to my desire to be needed and to always be the best, which is probably true since my goal is to learn how to do everything. Build a house? Carve a spoon? Make some clothes? Understand the human psyche? I want to know it all! Teach me!

Growing

Call it gardening or farming or little house on the prairie-ing, but I love it. Flowers, Food, Cactuses, Ferns, anything and everything. Living in Chicago, I have to get creative with how to exercise this muscle each year. It started as a mini farm in the suburbs, then building a garden for Bang Bang Pie, then working with Herban Produce, and finally to my overflowing rooftop patio garden and apartment.

Inspiration, for me, comes when faced with a problem that needs a smart solution.
