* Who is Aitches?

My initials - “HH” (Hannah Hoggatt), ergo, the nickname Aitches. No weird witchery, just a phonetic spelling of two letter Hs. You can also just call me Hannah, Han, Hannie, or my least favorite - Banana.

What’s my story?

& here’s where I tell you all about myself whether you wanted to know or not.

Over the last 12 years I have worked in many different industries - I’ve gone from photographer, to stylist, to small business owner, to restaurant partner, to agency creative director to freelance business consultant. And those are just the big ones.

What I’ve learned is this - there is no unsolvable problem. There is nothing that creative thinking can’t fix. Let’s work out the kinks in your business and get you in front of the right people, telling your story loud and clear.

Something that connects it all together is Design. Design is more than just a word paired with “graphic” or “fashion” or “web” - Design is function. Good design is a solution to something. It’s client touch points, it’s customer service, it’s a feeling you get when you walk in a space - it’s the entire experience. The whole package.

The official portfolio is under construction - but head to my resume to read more about my recent work.

01

Photographing

People, places and things. My first photo assignment was 5th grade with a purple plastic film camera. Lauren Lindner paid me 5$ to take stealth photographs of the boy she had a crush on at recess. So began my unrealized dream of being a private eye.

02

Traveling

I want to go everywhere. Seeing things I have never seen before makes me feel alive. Adventures, secret bars, rocky coast lines, lush green fields… I want it all. Where should we go next?

03

Making

I need to use my hands to make things. To create something out of nothing is a magical feeling. I was not born as lucky as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, so I have to find my own ways to make that magic. It doesn’t matter what it is - welding, woodworking, sewing, weaving, knitting, designing - I can see something in my imagination and go crazy working out how to bring it to life.

04

Learning

My therapist says this is due to my desire to be needed and to always be the best, which is probably true since my goal is to learn how to do everything. Build a house? Carve a spoon? Make some clothes? Understand the human psyche? I want to know it all! Teach me!

05

Growing

Call it gardening or farming or little house on the prairie-ing, but I love it. Flowers, Food, Cactuses, Ferns, anything and everything. While I lived in Chicago, I have to get creative with how to exercise this muscle each year. It started as a mini farm in the suburbs, then building a garden for Bang Bang Pie, then working with Herban Produce, and finally to my overflowing rooftop patio garden and apartment. Having recently moved to Maine, I am looking forward to all of the new space I have to grow!

my motto: “with constraints comes creativity”
